Egg London, or Egg LDN, is a popular electronic dance music venue and nightclub located in Kings Cross, North London. It has a capacity of 900 and consists of three levels hosting five rooms: Basement, Main Room, Terrace, Loft, and Cell 200. Egg LDN has a 24-hour license at weekends and features a variety of electronic dance music genres, with a primary focus on techno and house music. In 2017, Egg London won DJ Magazine's Best of British award for 'Best Large Club'. Egg LDN was purchased by Laurence Malice, the creator of the legendary Trade brand, in 1997. The venue was initially a disused warehouse surrounded by virtually derelict wasteland, with one of London's worst housing estates just a stone's throw away. The club aimed to host legal parties that continued well into the early hours of the morning, with an emphasis on the well-being of club goers and a strong booking policy. Despite the niche booking policy, Egg's long-running sessions became legendary throughout the capital. The club showcased emerging and long-running talent from the global electro and techno scene, with the likes of Joy Orbison, Chase and Status, Justice, Miss Kittin, Steve Bicknell, and Jeff Mills cropping up in the Main Room during the early years. Egg's 24-hour license and multiple outdoor spaces attracted a loyal crowd who went on to spread the word about a new spot that hosted a plethora of house, techno, and electro names from all over the world. Despite challenges, such as the location of the club opposite a notoriously unruly estate, Egg LDN's strong-willed team and uncompromising roster of talent kept the club alive. The club has evolved with the changes of our time, with architectural adjustments already lined up this year among other surprises. Egg London remains a popular venue for electronic dance music fans, and it's safe to say that it will be around for a while longer.
